Recoleta Cemetery is an overrated tourist attraction. As cemeteries go, Chacarita is far more interesting. Tourists go to Recoleta because guidebooks tell them to and in a city without major tourist attractions [it has to be said] people need something to do. Still, I like all the art nouveau tombs.

Wow... I'm almost speechless. As someone who has invested several years of their life in Recoleta Cemetery, I couldn't disagree more. In fact, I've never heard anyone say it is overrated. Are you looking at it in the proper context?

Both Recoleta & Chacarita have a different vibe/history/typical resident/style, & I think each should be appreciated for what they are. They are equally fascinating... in their own way. Preference is one thing, but I can't imagine dissuading people like you do. It had to be said.
