Just a few hundred meters from the parrilla [in the post below] is a memorial to cuarteto signer Rodrigo Bueno who died in a car crash near the spot in 2000 returning from a gig in La Plata. I remember back during my first stint in Buenos Aires in 1999/2000 Rodgrigo going from a minor regional singer to a national phenomenon. His untimely death launched his fame into the stratosphere and I remember for weeks all the media dealt only with his death and his music was everywhere. Like a lot of deceased idols [Evita, Gilda, Difunta Correa, Gauchito Gil, etc], his memorial has strong religious overtones.

The monument was pretty deserted. It was just these three girls and one of their mothers. They were listening to Rodrigo's music on their cellphone.

I'd recommend checking out some of Rodrigo's music, it's pretty catchy. My favorite song of his is 8:40. I'd also recommend Lo Mejor de Amor and Soy Cordobes, the latter being his anthem because he was from Cordoba. The style of music he played, Cuarteto, is strongly identified with the province.
