Buenos Aires mayor Mauricio Macri has done some interesting, pedestrian-friendly projects like convert Calle 25 de Mayo into a pedestrian street. Recently, however, the majority of of Parque Las Heras was fenced off to construct an underground parking lot. Cities don't need more parking spaces! The closure of one of Buenos Aires' finest parks for a year is inexcusable. The silver lining is that the bright yellow fence is quickly being covered with anti-Macri graffiti, easily seen by bus passengers on one of Buenos Aires' busiest avenues. Hopefully the public relations of this will be so bad that the project will be reconsidered.

"PRO" is Macri's insta-party, he'll probably run in 2011 for president against the Kirchners, the "K" in the graffiti above.

The graffiti reads, "Macri: this is a park not a business," the implication being that business interests and corrupt payoffs are motivating this project.
